Natural Home Remedies For Hiccups

Hiccups is also known as hiccough. It may occur due to diaphragm contracts and the epiglottis closes. In which the large sheet of muscle that separates the chest cavity from the abdominal cavity. This spasm cause an intake of breath that is suddenly stopped by the closure of the vocal cords (glottis). Hiccups are a reflex action. When the muscle contracts repeatedly, the opening between your vocal cords snaps shut to check the inflow of air and makes the hiccup sound. Irritation of the nerves that extend from the neck to the chest may cause hiccups. Hiccup is a sound produced by unintentional movement of the musle at the base of the lungs.

Causes of Hiccups

  • Hiccups may also occur, when you will eat too fast and it may swallow air along with your food.
  • It may also occur, When you will eat hot or spicy foods or drink carbonated liquids.
  • If you are using the following drugs, medications, substances or toxins such as including Chlorphenesin Carbamate, Maolate, Carboprost Tromethamine, Hemabate, Bretylium Tosylate that are some of the possible causes of Hiccups as a symptom.
  • If you have any disease or disorder that irritates the nerves that control the diaphragm (such as pleurisy or pneumonia), then it may also occur.

Home Remedies for Hiccups

  • You should eat tablespoon of sugar. In which remedy place a tablespoon of sugar in mouth and suck slowly. It is also beneficial for the hiccups.
  • You can also eat yoghurt by mixing 2 tsp common salt in a cup of plain yogurt (curd, yoghurt). In most cases, it is a good remedy.
  • You can also stop hiccups by 1/2 tsp mustard seeds mixed with 1/2 tsp pure ghee.
  • You should drink 5-6 green cardamom. Boil in 2 cups of water. When it boils down to 1 cup remove, sieve and drink while warm.
  • If you want to remove hiccups then hold your breath for a few seconds and then release.
  • You should sucked small pieces fresh ginger for recurring hiccups.
